SKIDMORE - Benito "Ben" Almendarez, a World War II Air Force veteran and a retired carpenter, died May 19, 2000. He was 87.
Survivors include six brothers, Maximo Almendarez of Corpus Christi, Carlos Almendarez of San Antonio, Porfirio Almendarez of Houston, Martin, Lupe and Aurelio Almendarez, all of Skidmore; and two sisters, Dora Gonzales of Skidmore and Solia Del Bosque of Houston.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. May 21 at Angelus Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. May 22 at Our Lady of Victory Church. Burial will be in Beeville Memorial Park.
Ruth H. Boykin
TAFT - Ruth Henry Boykin, a former member of First Presbyterian Church, Taft, a charter member of Parkway Presbyterian Church, Corpus Christi, and a homemaker, died May 20, 2000. She was 98.
Survivors include a son, Francis Boykin III; two daughters, Dorothy Boykin Sterett and Sally Linkenhoger; a brother, Louis Henry; and nine grandchildren.
Burial will be at 11 a.m. May 22 in Taft Cemetery.

Vikki T. Brownell
Vikki Turner Brownell, a homemaker and member of Annaville Baptist Church, died May 19, 2000. She was 47.
Survivors include her husband, Gary; three sons, Tyrell Turner and Montana Brownell, both of Corpus Christi, and Thomas Turner; her grandmother, Ruby Glenn of Brownfield; and her brother, Timothy Ellis.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. May 23 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Burial will be in Robstown Memorial Park.
Jack D. Hoel
Jack D. Hoel, a former Central Power and Light employee, died May 18, 2000. He was 70.
Survivors include his wife, Louise; a daughter, Jenny Lee Garrison of Abilene; a son William Hoel of Rowlett; two grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. May 21 at Seaside Funeral Home. Burial will be in Seaside Memorial Park.
Fred H. Matula Sr.
Fred H. Matula Sr., a World War II Army veteran and former employee of Heldenfels Brothers Construction Co. and member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, died May 19, 2000. He was 81.
Survivors include his wife, Adela; two daughters, Annette Baker of Floresville and Theresa Kinney of Corpus Christi; three sons, Fred Matula Jr., of Victoria, Thomas Matula of Corpus Christi and Ronald Matula of Floresville; three brothers, Charlie, Edwin and Alvin Matula Sr., all of Corpus Christi; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

ROCKPORT - Merle D. "Mr. Mac" McNorton, died May 20, 2000. He was 89.
Survivors include his wife, Viola; two daughters, Deana Strunk and Margie McDavid, both of Rockport; a brother, James McNorton of Corpus Christi; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. May 23 at First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Rockport Cemetery.

CHERRY HILL, N. J. - Monica K. Rodriguez, a former Corpus Christi resident, died May 18, 2000. She was 21.
Survivors include her parents, Manuel and Mary Lou Rodriguez of Cherry Hill; a brother Mark Phillip Rodriguez of Cherry Hill; and her grandparents, Herlinda Lopez, Manuel and Margarita Rodriguez, all of Corpus Christi.
